What is a current transformer?
CT (Current Transformer) meters are installed on any connections with a load greater than 100 Amps. They measure a fraction of the amps (current) passing through the connection and a multiplier is applied to this reading to reflect the actual amps.
When used with a CT operated meter these small devices are able to feed accurate real time data to the meter in order to display a guaranteed reading on energy consumption.
How they work
Current Transformers open and close around a current carrying conductor and measure its current by determining the magnetic field around it, providing a quick measurement reading usually on a digital display without disconnecting or opening the circuit.

The TU16 Range of Split Core Current Transformers work in conjunction with any 333mV CT Operated Electricity Meters. Due to the style of these Split Core Current transformers, you can easily install them without needing to break any conductors. The output on these CTs is in millivolts, as opposed to the traditional 5A secondary, which is much safer when installing. You can use individual TU16 CTs for Single Phase applications, you can also use 3pcs of these current transformers for Three Phase applications. The Aperture on this model accommodates 16mm² Cable. The TU16 is ideal for applications such as Distribution systems, Generator sets, Control Panels and Switchgears.
