The MSC3 Range of Split Core Current Transformers from Crompton Instruments work in conjunction with any 5A CT Operated Electricity Meters. Due to the style of these Split Core Current transformers, you can easily install them without needing to break any conductors. They also come with a shorting link for safe installation (This will need removing once installed). You can use individual MSC3 CTs for Single Phase applications, you can also use several of these current transformers for Three Phase applications. The Aperture on this model accommodates 28mm² Cable. The MSC3 is ideal for applications such as Distribution systems, Generator sets, Control Panels and Switchgear.
CT (Current Transformer) meters are installed on any connections with a load greater than 100 Amps. They measure a fraction of the amps (current) passing through the connection and a multiplier is applied to this reading to reflect the actual amps.
When used with a CT operated meter these small devices are able to feed accurate real time data to the meter in order to display a guaranteed reading on energy consumption.
Current Transformers open and close around a current carrying conductor and measure its current by determining the magnetic field around it, providing a quick measurement reading usually on a digital display without disconnecting or opening the circuit.
